KOVH Foundation State Ambassador Program: Answering the Call
What is the KOVH Foundation?
The KOVH Foundation (Keep Our Vets Housed) is the nation’s first nonprofit solely focused on supporting veteran families facing, undergoing, or recovering from foreclosure—especially those impacted by the VA Home Loan system. Founded by Amy Tilley-Boyd, a Navy wife who has spent over a decade fighting to save her own family’s home, KOVH shines a light on a widespread but rarely discussed national crisis affecting our heroes.
Why Do We Need a State Ambassador Program?
Because the problem is national—but the solutions start locally.Veteran families in every state are losing their homes due to systemic failures—confusing processes, denied assistance, poor communication, and lack of enforcement around VA loan protections. These foreclosures are not just financial losses—they're moral failures.
The State Ambassador Program is our response: a 50-state network of trained advocates working on the ground to raise awareness, influence policy, and offer real-time support. Each State Ambassador leads the charge in their region and represents the voice of veterans who deserve better.
What’s the Urgency? Why Now?
The crisis is already here:
Since 2014, families with VA loans have reported increasing rates of foreclosure despite protections they believed they had.
Many never learn about hardship assistance or are wrongly denied help.
Others lose homes without ever speaking to an advocate or attorney.
Some are disabled veterans or surviving spouses—still evicted.
This is a silent national crisis—and we are out of time to wait for top-down reform. The change must begin from the ground up.
What Will Ambassadors Do?
Each State Ambassador will:
Lead grassroots awareness campaigns in their state
Collaborate with local nonprofits, legal aid, and veteran service organizations
Advocate for state-level protections and accountability
Participate in national campaigns and events, including the annual National Day of Action
Support families navigating the foreclosure process
Mentor and oversee a team of Junior Ambassadors
What Are Junior Ambassadors?
Junior Ambassadors are community members—often students, emerging leaders, or veteran family members—who serve under the guidance of a State Ambassador. They assist with outreach, events, social media campaigns, and local engagement projects. This layered approach allows for broader reach, mentorship, and sustainability of the movement.
Junior Ambassadors play a key role in spreading awareness, gaining civic experience, and learning from seasoned advocates—all while helping protect veteran families from homelessness.
Who Can Be a State Ambassador?
We are looking for:
Veterans and military family members
Nonprofit leaders, legal advocates, and policy changemakers
Passionate citizens ready to serve those who served
Individuals with strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
What Support Will Ambassadors Receive?
You won’t walk this path alone. KOVH provides:
A comprehensive Ambassador Training Manual
Live and recorded workshops
A full suite of social media graphics and content
Ongoing mentoring, national calls, and recognition
Leadership development and access to exclusive events
more being added as we grow!
What’s the Goal?
50 States. 50 Leaders. One Mission: Keep Our Vets Housed. We aim to appoint at least one official Ambassador in every U.S. state, supported by Junior Ambassadors, before year’s end. This program will amplify our reach, increase accountability, and ensure no veteran family is left to fight foreclosure alone.
