KOVH Foundation State Ambassador Program: Answering the Call

Updated: Aug 9

What is the KOVH Foundation?

The KOVH Foundation (Keep Our Vets Housed) is the nation’s first nonprofit dedicated to helping veteran families facing, experiencing, or recovering from foreclosure. This is particularly important for those affected by the VA Home Loan system. Founded by Amy Tilley-Boyd, a Navy wife who has spent more than a decade trying to save her own home, KOVH highlights a pressing national crisis impacting our heroes.

Why Do We Need a State Ambassador Program?

The issue is a national one, but solutions must start locally. Veteran families in every state are losing their homes due to systemic failures. These include confusing processes, denied assistance, and poor communication regarding VA loan protections. These foreclosures represent not just financial losses but also moral failures.

The State Ambassador Program addresses these issues. It is a 50-state network of trained advocates who work on the ground to raise awareness, influence policy, and provide real-time support. Each State Ambassador is responsible for leading efforts in their region. They give a voice to veterans who deserve better.

What’s the Urgency? Why Now?

The Current Crisis

The crisis is not just looming—it is active and severe:

  • Since 2014, families with VA loans have experienced increasing foreclosure rates despite existing protections.

  • Many individuals are unaware of hardship assistance or are wrongly denied help.

  • Others lose their homes without ever consulting an advocate or attorney.

  • Some are disabled veterans or surviving spouses who still face eviction.

This is a silent national crisis, and we don't have time to wait for top-down reforms. Change must come from the ground up.

What Will Ambassadors Do?

Each State Ambassador will have specific responsibilities:

  • Lead grassroots campaigns in their state to raise awareness.

  • Collaborate with local nonprofits and veteran service organizations.

  • Advocate for state-level protections and accountability.

  • Participate in national campaigns and events, including the annual National Day of Action.

  • Support families as they navigate through the foreclosure process.

  • Mentor and manage a team of Junior Ambassadors.

What Are Junior Ambassadors?

Junior Ambassadors are community members, often students, emerging leaders, or family members of veterans. They serve under the guidance of a State Ambassador. Their tasks include assisting with outreach, events, social media campaigns, and local projects. This layered approach ensures a broader reach and the sustainability of the movement.

Junior Ambassadors play a vital role in spreading awareness, gaining civic engagement experience, and learning from experienced advocates—while helping to protect veteran families from homelessness.

Who Can Be a State Ambassador?

We are seeking individuals who are:

  • Veterans and military family members.

  • Nonprofit leaders, legal advocates, and policy changers.

  • Passionate citizens who are ready to serve those who have served.

  • People with strong communication and organizational skills.

What Support Will Ambassadors Receive?

You will not be alone on this journey. KOVH offers:

  • A detailed Ambassador Training Manual.

  • Live and recorded workshops.

  • A complete suite of social media graphics and content.

  • Continuous mentoring, national calls, and recognition.

  • Leadership development and access to exclusive events.

  • Additional resources as we grow!

What’s the Goal?

Our goal is clear: 50 States. 50 Leaders. One Mission: Keep Our Vets Housed. We aim to have at least one official Ambassador in every U.S. state, supported by Junior Ambassadors, by the end of the year. This initiative will enhance our outreach, boost accountability, and ensure that no veteran family has to fight foreclosure alone.
