A Call to Action: Halt VA Foreclosures Until the July 30th Partial Claim Act Is Fully Implemented

Time is running out for thousands of veteran families across the country. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and mortgage servicers are continuing to process foreclosures on the very men and women who once wore this nation’s uniform — even as a new law, designed to protect them, remains unfinished and unavailable.
On July 30th, 2025, the Partial Claim Act was signed into law. This critical legislation was created to give struggling veteran homeowners a fair chance at saving their homes by restructuring their mortgage debt and offering a path forward. In short, it was meant to be a lifeline.
But there’s a serious problem. The guidelines for how lenders and servicers are supposed to implement this new law have not yet been released. Without those guidelines, veterans cannot apply. Servicers cannot process. And the very families this law was designed to protect remain exposed to foreclosure — an irreversible outcome that could be avoided.
Why This Matters So Deeply
To allow foreclosures to proceed in this moment — when the relief has been promised but not delivered — is more than a policy failure. It is an act of injustice. It is un-American.
Our country made a promise to those who served. Veterans risked their lives, their health, and their futures to protect our freedoms. Yet today, many of them are being told that the bank can take their homes before they even have the chance to access the protections Congress intended for them.
This isn’t just about mortgages. It’s about keeping faith with the families who carried the weight of war on their shoulders. It’s about ensuring that the children of veterans don’t wake up to find their homes stripped away because of bureaucratic delays and administrative indifference.
The Moral and Patriotic Choice
Every veteran family deserves the dignity of being evaluated under the July 30th Partial Claim Act before foreclosure is allowed to proceed. Anything less is a betrayal — a slap in the face to those who served with honor.
The VA, lawmakers, and servicers must act with urgency and compassion. Halt all VA foreclosures immediately until this program is fully implemented.
This is not just reasonable policy. It is the only moral choice. It is the only patriotic choice.
