Harvest of Hope: Building a Future for Veteran Families - The First Year: Phase 1

At the KOVH Foundation, we know what it feels like to stand at the edge of losing everything. For far too many veteran families, the fight doesn’t end after service. It continues at home—at the kitchen table—when the threat of foreclosure and housing insecurity looms large. That’s why we are planting seeds of hope, literally and figuratively, through our Harvest of Hope pilot farm.

This farm isn’t just about crops and animals. It’s about creating a place where healing, sustainability, and community can take root. The farm will serve as a model for how we can empower veteran families by providing food, jobs, and a sense of belonging. It’s also a hub for education and awareness—a space where the wider community can see firsthand what resilience looks like.

The First Year: Phase 1

We are starting with 40–60 acres of farmland. Whether purchased outright or donated, this land is the foundation of Harvest of Hope. On-site, we’ll operate a small bakery producing bread, pastries, and jams, alongside a merchandise store featuring farm-branded apparel and gifts. Families and supporters will also have the chance to join our Adopt-a-Farm-Animal program, connecting directly to the animals they help sustain.

Here’s a snapshot of the first year’s estimated monthly revenue:

  • On-Site Bakery: $500 – $1,500

  • Merchandise Store: $250 – $1,000

  • Adopt-a-Farm-Animal Sponsorship: $200 – $800

  • Fundraising & Donations: $5,000 – $10,000

  • Grants: $3,000 – $5,000

  • Total Monthly Revenue: $8,950 – $18,300

These numbers aren’t just financial projections. They are a roadmap to stability, showing how every loaf of bread, every T-shirt sold, and every animal sponsored contributes to a larger mission: keeping veteran families housed, supported, and thriving.

Why Harvest of Hope Matters

Veterans have already given so much for our country. Yet too often, they return home to face another battle—this time against foreclosure, unemployment, and lack of resources. Harvest of Hope is more than a farm. It’s a living, breathing commitment that says: You are not forgotten. We’ve got your back.

Through this project, we are creating opportunities for:

  • Employment and training for veterans and their families.

  • Nutritional support through locally grown produce and baked goods.

  • Community engagement by inviting schools, churches, and civic groups to connect with the farm.

  • Sustainable funding that strengthens the KOVH Foundation’s mission long-term.

How You Can Help

Like any farm, Harvest of Hope can’t grow without hands to tend it. We need donors, sponsors, and advocates to step into this movement with us. Whether through adopting a farm animal, sponsoring part of the land, or contributing to the startup costs, your support ensures that veteran families don’t have to stand alone in their hardest moments.

This is more than a farm. It’s a promise. A promise that the sacrifices of our veterans and their families will be honored not with words alone, but with action—action that feeds, houses, and sustains.
