Harvest of Hope: Planting Seeds of Security for Veteran Families

ree

At the KOVH Foundation, we’ve seen too many veteran families face the devastating reality of losing their homes. Behind every foreclosure is a story of sacrifice, service, and a promise that should have been kept. Housing insecurity is not just a financial struggle—it’s a blow to dignity, stability, and hope. That’s why today, we are planting something new: the Harvest of Hope Farm Initiative.

This initiative is more than a farm—it’s a mission. Harvest of Hope is designed to feed, employ, educate, and empower veteran families while protecting farmland for future generations. By creating a self-sustaining community hub, we can provide veterans and their families with stability, meaningful work, and access to healthy food while building bridges between neighbors, local businesses, and the land itself.

But here’s the truth: we can’t wait.

Every day that passes without this initiative moving forward is another day a veteran family faces foreclosure, another day children feel the instability of losing their home, another day opportunities to preserve farmland for good are lost. The urgency is real—and so is the potential for impact.

Why Funding Must Start Now

  • Veteran Families Need Immediate Relief: Foreclosures on VA loans have skyrocketed, leaving families with no safe landing. Harvest of Hope offers a pathway out of crisis.

  • Farmland Is Disappearing: With development pressures growing, every acre counts. By securing land now, we safeguard spaces that can nourish both bodies and futures.

  • Community Resilience Can’t Wait: Food insecurity, housing insecurity, and unemployment are all connected. This initiative tackles them together, creating a model other communities can replicate nationwide.

How You Can Help

We are launching Phase 1 of the Harvest of Hope Farm Initiative with a goal of $150,000. This funding will allow us to:

  • Acquire or secure farmland through purchase or donation

  • Build critical infrastructure (fencing, irrigation, storage)

  • Launch an on-site bakery and merchandise hub to create revenue and sustainability

  • Start an “Adopt-a-Farm-Animal” program to engage the community in ongoing support

This is more than a fundraiser—it’s an invitation to stand with our veterans, to preserve the land, and to plant seeds of security that will grow for generations.

🌱 Every dollar brings us closer to turning soil into sanctuary. 🌱

If you believe, like we do, that no veteran family should lose their home and no community should lose the opportunity to thrive, then join us today. Together, we can make Harvest of Hope a reality.
