But for far too many veteran families—especially those facing foreclosure or still struggling to recover from it—the season is filled with anxiety and heartbreak. At the KOVH Foundation, we know this struggle all too well. The number of veteran families in crisis is growing every year… including my own.

That’s why we are proud to host our 2nd Annual Adopt a Veteran Family for Christmas—a campaign that connects struggling veteran families with caring adopters who are ready to bring hope, stability, and holiday cheer.

How It Works

For Veteran Families in Need

If you are a veteran family facing foreclosure or still trying to recover from it, we invite you to sign up to be adopted this holiday season. This is not charity—it’s your community stepping up to walk alongside you.

• All families will be vetted to ensure safety and fairness for everyone involved.

• Being adopted may mean help with gifts, holiday meals, groceries, or essentials that lighten the weight you’re carrying.

• Remember—asking for help is not a weakness. It’s a lifeline, and it’s okay to reach for it.

For Those Who Wish to Adopt a Veteran Family

When you choose to adopt a veteran family, you’re doing more than sending gifts—you’re restoring hope.

• You must agree to follow the program’s rules and follow through with your commitment.

• False hopes can devastate a family already fighting to hold on; reliability matters as much as generosity.

• Support can be tailored to your means—whether it’s paying for a holiday meal, providing warm clothing, covering a bill, or sending toys for children.
