KOVH Sunday Veteran Spotlight - Damon Downing

A heartfelt salute to this dedicated and honorable veteran:

Enlisted in the Marines on January 25th, 1999, this veteran demonstrated unwavering commitment and selflessness in service to our country. Serving with distinction in the 1st Battalion 10th Marines Charlie Battery, they embodied the core values of the Marine Corps.

After an honorable discharge in September 2003, their dedication to protecting and serving our nation persisted. In 2007, this veteran joined the Minnesota National Guard, contributing their skills to the 834th Aviation Support Battalion. Their commitment to duty and excellence shone through, earning another honorable discharge in 2009.

Continuing the journey in the Army Reserves, this veteran reached the rank of Specialist, showcasing versatility and adaptability across different branches of the military. With a full discharge in 2013, their service record stands as a testament to their dedication.

Throughout their military career, from the Marine Corps to the Army Reserves, this veteran achieved the rank of Lance Corporal in the Marines, and Specialist in the Army, signifying their growth, leadership, and commitment to duty.

Having served two tours in Iraq, this veteran faced challenges with resilience, courage, and a steadfast commitment to the principles of duty and honor. Their numerous awards and decorations reflect not only their individual accomplishments but also the profound impact they had on the units and missions they served.

We extend our deepest gratitude for the sacrifices made, the challenges faced, and the exemplary service rendered. This salute is not only a recognition of their military achievements but a heartfelt acknowledgment of the character, courage, and commitment that define their journey as a proud veteran. Thank you for your service.
