At the KOVH Foundation, we believe that no veteran family should face the fear and heartbreak of losing their home. Yet today, thousands of veteran families across America are on the brink of foreclosure — a crisis that demands urgent attention and action.
This year, as the FHA-backed veteran mortgage assistance programs end on September 1st, the stakes are higher than ever. Foreclosure risks threaten the stability of families who have sacrificed so much for our country. That’s why we are proud to announce a powerful week-long campaign of awareness and activism leading to our National Day of Awareness on August 15th.
What Is the Week of Awareness & Activism?
From August 9th through August 15th, we invite communities, supporters, advocates, and veterans themselves to join us in shining a spotlight on the growing housing crisis impacting veteran families. This week is designed to:
Educate the public about the challenges veteran families face with housing instability.
Mobilize grassroots support to push for legislative and regulatory reforms.
Raise funds and resources for our “We’ve Got Your Backs” foreclosure support and recovery care package program.
Empower individuals to take part through daily actions, social media campaigns, community events, and advocacy.
How You Can Get Involved
Every action counts. Here’s how you can help during the week:
Wear Red: Show solidarity by wearing red throughout the week and on August 15th, our official National Day of Awareness.
Share Stories: Use social media to share real stories of veteran families facing foreclosure using #KOVHAwareness and #VeteransHousingJustice.
Attend Events: Join virtual or local events hosted by KOVH Ambassadors nationwide.
Advocate: Contact your local and state representatives urging them to support veteran housing protections.
Donate: Support the “We’ve Got Your Backs” care packages to provide comfort and aid to veteran families during foreclosure or recovery.
Why Your Voice Matters
The end of vital veteran mortgage assistance programs threatens to push many families over the edge. Foreclosure isn’t just about losing a house — it’s about losing safety, stability, and community. Together, we can ensure veteran families don’t face this battle alone.
