On May 1st, 2025, the VA’s Veteran Assistance Safeguard Program (VASP) was abruptly terminated — and on September 1st, all remaining FHA-backed mortgage protections will vanish. These terminations are happening with no major media coverage or national awareness. The result? An imminent housing and economic disaster for millions of Americans — especially veterans, working families, rural households, seniors, and first-time buyers.
We call on Congress, the Department of Veterans Affairs, HUD, and state officials to take immediate action to protect veteran families from foreclosure, predatory housing practices, and rent-to-own scams. Across the country, veterans are being misled into deceptive rent-to-own agreements, contract-for-deed traps, and unaffordable housing schemes that strip them of hard-earned savings, equity, and stability—often with no legal protections. These practices disproportionately affect vulnerable veterans facing barriers to traditional homeownership or recovering from VA loan defaults. We demand stronger oversight, regulation, enforcement, and support systems to prevent housing exploitation and ensure veterans have access to safe, transparent, and just housing options. Housing should not be a battlefield—our veterans deserve better.
🔥 What’s at Stake:

Foreclosure rates are projected to rise by 215%$87 billion in home equity is expected to evaporate. A projected 27% surge in homelessness, especially among military families. 📣 We Demand:

Congressional hearings on the housing crisis facing veterans and low-to-middle income homeowners4. Funding for housing stabilization in vulnerable states and communities5. ✍️ Add Your Name:
We cannot allow those who served our country — and the families who keep our communities running — to face foreclosure in silence. This is a nonpartisan humanitarian crisis. The time to act is now, not after another housing crash.
