THE SILENT CRISIS: NO VETERAN LEFT BEHIND

I want to ask you something. What happens when a veteran loses their home?
Do we see it on the news?Do we get an alert on our phones?Do we stop what we’re doing?
No.Because this crisis didn’t come with headlines. It didn’t trend. It didn’t go viral.
But it’s here. And it’s growing. And it’s costing veterans their lives.
A POLICY THAT VANISHED IN SILENCE]
On May 1st, 2025, the Department of Veterans Affairs silently ended a program called VASP—a lifeline that helped veterans modify loans, lower interest, and avoid foreclosure.
187,000 veterans were protected by this program over 7 years.
Then, without warning—it vanished. No press release. No plan. No backup.
Now, on September 1st, every remaining FHA homeowner protection will disappear too.
That means millions—including thousands of veterans—will be left with nowhere to turn.
HE HUMAN COST
This isn’t just policy. This is life or death.
Let me be clear:
Over 50,000 veterans could lose their homes by this fall
Rent-to-own veterans—who’ve paid faithfully for years—are being told they have no rights
Veterans with disabilities are being evicted with no warning
Housing distress calls to the VA are up 32%
Suicide risks are skyrocketing
We are watching a generation of heroes become homeless in silence.
And still—no one is sounding the alarm.
WHY THIS HITS DIFFERENTLY
I know this because I lived it.
My name is Amy Tilley-Boyd. I’m a Navy wife. I spent a decade fighting for my family’s home. Fighting paperwork, bureaucracy, silence. And nearly losing everything in the process.
That’s why I started the Keep Our Vets Housed Foundation—to make sure no other veteran family had to go through this alone.
Because this isn’t about politics. It’s about people. Real families. Real loss. Real heartbreak.
THE NATIONAL IMPACT
This isn’t just a veteran crisis. This is a national crisis.
3.2 million families will lose protections
Foreclosures will rise by 215%
Local tax revenues will drop by $11.4 billion
Home values could fall by up to 23%
Emergency shelters are overwhelmed
This is the cost of silence.
THE MOVEMENT RISING
But we are not staying silent.
KOVH has officially launched the Veterans Housing Justice Ambassador Program. 50 States. 50 Leaders. One Mission: To Keep Our Veterans and the Families Housed
Our Ambassadors will include:
Spouses of veterans,
Students,
Community leaders,
Teachers,
Faith organizers,
Activists,
And people just like you—who’ve said, “Enough.”
They will serve as the voices that won’t be silenced.
WHAT YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW
You don’t need a title or a fancy platform to help.
You just need your voice—and your heart.

✅ Use the hashtag #SilentCrisis
✅ Join as an Ambassador
✅ Host a screening, a meeting, or a Day of Action
✅ Write your Representatives at house.gov
✅ Share this message—with everyone you know
Veterans stood up for us. They served with honor. They didn’t ask for much in return—just a chance to live with dignity and security.
And now, we have a chance to keep that promise.
So I ask you:
Will you stand with us? Will you break the silence? Will you fight—for the home of every veteran who fought for ours?
Because justice means housing. Dignity means housing. Keeping your promise—to those who served—starts with housing.
Let’s make sure no veteran is left behind. Not now. Not ever.
