When a veteran family is facing foreclosure, it’s not just the threat of losing a house—it’s the unraveling of security, stability, and peace of mind. The process is isolating, overwhelming, and often invisible to those around them. That’s why the KOVH Foundation created the “We’ve Got Your Backs” Foreclosure Support and Recovery Care Package Project—a compassionate effort to walk alongside veteran families during one of the hardest fights of their lives.
What Is the "We've Got Your Backs" Project?
This initiative provides thoughtful, morale-boosting care packages to veteran families who are:
Actively battling foreclosure
Recovering after foreclosure has occurred
Each care package includes:
Comfort items like fleece blankets, socks, journals, and calming teas
Essential items such as hygiene kits, gas or grocery gift cards, and basic supplies
Emotional and practical resources with contacts for housing counselors, legal aid, and mental health support
These packages serve as both a source of relief and a signal of solidarity: You’re not forgotten. You’re not invisible. We’ve got your backs.
Why This Matters Now More Than Ever
With the end of the VA’s Veteran Assistance Safeguard Program (VASP) and no permanent foreclosure prevention alternative in place, veteran families are falling through the cracks. Many are navigating complex paperwork, broken promises, and financial stress alone. The mental toll is staggering.
These care packages are more than just physical support—they are a sign of hope at a time when many feel hopeless.
Why We Need Your Help
Each “We’ve Got Your Backs” package costs approximately $35–$50 to assemble and deliver. Our goal is to distribute at least 500 packages over the next year—but we can’t do that without funding from people who believe in our mission.
